Photography basics on practice
On Sunday, March 2, HSTV students put all their personal plans aside to take a good photo at the Maslenitsa feast on the main square. The practical class was initiated by the students themselves and was supported by “The Basics of Photography” course professor Yuri Maltsev.
The task for the students was the following: they had to take three good shots, that would not have more than three objects on each. What made things more difficult was the fact that the Main Square itself is not really suitable for taking pictures: it has plenty of gray colour and unusual shape. Even though some students think they have not completed the task, all of the pictures will be analyzed by the professor at the next “Basics of Photography” class.
VSUES students visited a journalism school in Prague
The School of Journalism in Prague is an eleven-day journalism course for Russian students and young media specialists. The program has been successfully working for 4 years already. This year, some of the HSTV students took part in the event.
Lectures took place in the centre of Prague in the building of an old cafe. A group of celebrated journalists with a lot of experience in the profession taught students the aspects of investigation journalism. In addition to classes, students had time to get to know the great city of Prague, the easiest way of which, they said, was to get lost in its narrow streets. Participants have also visited some other famous Czech cities.
Students were invited to take part in the next Prague School of Journalism course that will take place in the summer 2014.
HSTV VSUES opens “PR and Advertising” bachelor program
On its second year of existence, the High School of Television of VSUES is planning to establish another bachelor degree program – Public Relations and Advertising. It is said that this specialization would be taught at HSTV with close links to journalism.
Main accents will be put on multimedia journalism and social networking. Being close to journalism is usual for future press-secretaries, while advertising specialists would be prepared for working with mass media. HSTV has everything needed for it.
In addition, a lot of attention will be paid to practice: students will work in small groups under guidance of true professionals of these spheres. This system already works at HSTV in its 'Television' department and have proved to be efficient.
It was planned to replace State History Exam with a creative contest (interview), but, unfortunately, Ministry of Education didn't allow such substitution for the next academic year enrollment.
Please note that there are no 'budget places' at HSTV, but the School provides full scholarships to students with a high number of exam points.
